The Learning Center at Concord Hospital Print Page

The Learning Center, a department of Concord Hospital, is a state-licensed childcare program serving the children of eligible Capitol Region Health Care employees. The Center, accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, has been in operation since November 1985. It is housed in a state-of–the-art building designed specifically for children, staff and parents. Features include:

  • Programs for infants, toddlers, preschool, and kindergarten age children year-round.
  • A security system designed to restrict building access to authorized families and staff.
  • A home-like environment, with developmentally appropriate furniture and materials for each age group.
  • Common space used by all ages at varying times of the day, allowing for multi-age interactions and large motor play indoors.
  • Covered porches adjacent to each classroom leading to the playground, allowing outside play in most any weather.
  • Staff who meet and exceed the education and experience requirements as set by the state of NH and who work together to offer a nurturing, supportive and stimulating program for all age groups.
  • Vacation and summer camp for children in grades K–3.

The Learning Center promotes hands-on learning, believing that children learn best by active involvement in their play and exploration. The Center hours are from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, 52 weeks per year. The Center is closed on all major holidays, as well as the day after Thanksgiving and remains open on minor holidays.

Morning snacks, lunch and afternoon snacks are prepared on site and are served to children at the Center, with the exception of infants (parents provide meals until they are ready for table foods), and summer camp children (parents provide lunches).

All Concord Hospital employees are eligible for on-site child care. For more information about this benefit, inquire at the time of interview. For more information about The Learning Center program contact director, Maureen Heath.
