Why Choose Concord Hospital?
The Breast Care Center’s one-stop approach to services eliminates having to wait to see a surgeon once a concern is raised from a clinical exam or mammogram. If a patient is told that a biopsy is recommended following her/his diagnostic mammogram and/or breast ultrasound at the Breast Imaging Suite at Concord Imaging Center, she/he is escorted upstairs to the Breast Care Center for a consult with the surgeon or nurse practitioner. A detailed medical history and clinical breast exam is done, as well as education concerning the results of the imaging studies and the procedure recommended for the biopsy. The patient leaves this visit with all her/his questions answered, written information to review at home and appointment dates for the biopsy and a three day follow-up appointment for results and post biopsy check.
Additionally, Concord Hospital Payson Center for Cancer Care offers onsite cancer genetic counseling
and testing services through a collaboration with New Hampshire Oncology-Hematology, PA (NHOH) and the Dana-Farber
Cancer Instititute (DFCI) Cancer Risk & Prevention Program. The Genetic Counseling Program provides those high-risk
patients critical genetic counseling and testing close to home. A DCFI Genetic Counselor is available to provider
expert consultation to patients at the Breast Care Center once a month and a physician from NHOH will offer further
consultation. All cases are reviewed by the team at the DFCI Cancer Risk & Prevention Program.
