Why Choose Concord Hospital?

Our comprehensive and collaborative patient care team consists of critical care specialists, nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, physical therapists, dietitians, social workers, spiritual care coordinators, chaplains and case managers. We are committed to providing quality medical care using research-based practice for treatment of critical illnesses and conditions.

Board-certified critical care intensivists and advanced practice nurses are expert in diagnosing and treating patients with all complex conditions.

The ICU is fully equipped with advanced computerized charting and coding technology. Our digital imaging assists to interpret recorded vital signs, cardiac rhythms, cat scans, x-rays, and other essential diagnostic parameters.

Concord Hospital offers Patient Phone Network — a free voice mail service for families of ICU patients, which provides access to a personalized voice mailbox where families can retrieve updates on their loved ones' medical conditions. Instructions for accessing and using Patient Phone Network are given to a patient’s appointed family spokesperson at the time the patient is admitted to the ICU. The spokesperson decides who has access to the instructions. Family members can call the toll-free number from anywhere in the country, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and hear the most recent update on their loved one's condition.

The ICU waiting area, designed specifically for family and friends of ICU patients, offers private rooms where families can gather and consult with physicians and nurses. Additionally, the space offers free wireless Internet access, vending machines and televisions. It provides convenient access to ICU patient rooms, as well as a direct telephone line to ICU staff.

A cornerstone of our intensive care services is a newly expanded inpatient unit. The design of the 20-bed unit supports sophisticated technology in a healing environment. Each room has a private bath and space designed especially so family members can stay close to their loved ones in comfort. The new unit also offers improvements in patient care and satisfaction including decentralized work stations with direct views into patient rooms, ceiling mounted tracks for lifting and turning patients, mobile arms for placing equipment, as well as readily available technology and supply carts. Advanced medical equipment such as “Smart” IV pumps help improve patient safety and pendants in each room hold medical equipment from the ceiling to ease space constraints and allow physicians to administer procedures more easily at the bedside.
