Occupational therapy is skilled treatment that helps individuals achieve independence and lead productive, satisfying lives. Occupational therapists provide:

Concord Hospital offers a range of occupational therapy services to improve daily function for patients with physical or functional impairments.
Inpatient Occupational Therapy Services
Inpatient occupational therapists work with patients and their families to create individualized treatment plans to restore functional independence in activities of daily living, upper extremity use (e.g., bathing and dressing) and functional mobility (e.g., carrying groceries). Occupational therapists help patients regain an independent and safe level of function before discharge from the hospital. Occupational therapists work with discharge planners to ease the transition from Concord Hospital to other healthcare facilities or home.

Outpatient Occupational Therapy Services
Occupational therapists are specially trained in managing acute hand injuries, restorative and preventive care, and assessment and treatment of cumulative trauma disorders of upper extremities. In providing outpatient treatment, therapists utilize advanced soft tissue techniques, modalities, therapeutic exercise, state-of-the-art equipment and comprehensive functionally based home exercise programs.
Services provided by our occupational therapists include but are not limited to:
- Hand therapy
- Custom splint fabrication (for corrective and/or protective measures)
- Coordination/dexterity evaluation and training
- Work-site assessments
- Functional capacity evaluations for people with upper extremity injuries
- Energy conservation/pacing
- Ergonomic assessments/recommendations
- BTE work simulator evaluation and exercise
- Home safety/activities of daily living evaluation and treatment
- Cognitive/perceptual evaluation and training
- Falls risk assessment and treatment
Outpatient occupational therapy services are offered at the Memorial Building and Center for Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation. Appointments are available between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
